Your Personal Word Cloud
If you’ve followed me you know I’m a fan of language, words create worlds, the words you speak are the house you live in, etc. The words you speak to yourself have more power over you than you realize, but are you even aware of the words that populate your inner world?
Understanding what language you use with yourself can provide powerful insight into your self esteem, self perception and confidence. Most people’s inner language becomes habitual so we’re not fully aware of the words we use, yet they still have tremendous influence over your feelings and behavior.
A fun exercise to do is create a word cloud of your inner language- what words do you whisper to yourself? Take a week or two and tune in to the language you use when you do something well, when you mess up, when you’re under stress, in the quiet moments when you’re alone with your thoughts and reflective and everywhere in between. Keep a running list and put them in a word cloud generator and see what comes up. You might be surprised, you might be alarmed, you might be happy. However you feel you’ll gain insight into your own inner world.
If you find your language is more negative or critical you can pick positive words and affirmations that feel aligned and true for you and be intentional about using them. Change your words, change your world. Ready to create a more empowering inner dialogue? Let’s connect and get started!
